Please come out and help us with our day of fun-filled games from around the world!!!  Volunteers are needed to run the different games and activities for all grade levels.  Please make sure that you are a registered volunteer with Wake County Schools if you would like to help at one of the games. We also will need some large water coolers and ice coolers to keep the children cool and having a great time!  We also need some folding tailgate tents for a few of the stations.

Thank you to all our generous JGES families for your donations to Heifer International.  We were able to collect over $500 and we so appreciate all of your support.  We would also like to thank all the students who submitted their wonderful and creative ideas on how the collected funds should be spent.  Congratulations to Ms. Shaw's class for their joint submission which was the selected winner!  With the funds, it has been decided to purchase three sheep, three flocks of chicks, two hives of honeybees and a flock of ducks and geese.  Way to go Jeffreys Grove!  You have all contributed to making a big difference in the lives of those in need.

"Dear JG Staff, Mrs. Shaws class wants to buy with the Heifer money three sheep and three flocks of chickens.  First, sheep give wool to make clothes.
And have babies to pass on.  Second, chickens lay 200 eggs a year.  Third, chickens don't take up a lot of space and sheep can eat grass and feed themselves.
Don't you think it is a good idea to buy three sheep and three flocks of chicks?  Thank you for considering our ideas.
Love, Ms Shaw's Koalas"

Jeffreys Grove Elementary proudly announces our Teacher of the Year!

Picture
Meet Brandy Garrett, our 2013-14 Teacher of the Year.  Ms. Garrett was voted on, by her colleagues, for this honor.  Ms. Garrett has taught both 1st and 3rd grades in the three years she's been at JGES.  She is 3rd grade team leader this year and is also Chair of the Mathematics Committee for our School Improvement Team.  She is Nationally Board certified and also mentors beginning teachers.  Ms. Garrett comes to work each day energized, excited, and determined to make a difference for each of her students.  She holds very high expectations for each of her students and is a great support to her colleagues as well.  We are so excited that Ms. Garrett is going to represent Jeffreys Grove as our Teacher of the Year.  It is an honor that is very well deserved!

Jeffreys Grove Elementary proudly announces our Teacher Assistant of the Year!

Meet Jacqwanda Evans, JGES Teacher Assistant of the Year.  Ms. Evans has worked at Jeffreys Grove for 8 years.  She is the teacher assistant in one of our pre-school classes.  Ms. Evans is a natural with young students.  She teaches them, plays with them and loves them!  Her colleague and pre-K teacher, Ms. Cumming, says that Ms. Evans has a special heart for children, particularly those with special needs.  Previous students often stop by the classroom to get a hug from her!  Congratulations Ms. Evans!
